Fertility and abundance - solstice
The festival of the summer solstice or Germanic-Keltisch also called Litha, announces that nature is almost on the HPoint of fertility is.

It is a festival of fire and always a feast of abundance, joy, dance, the excessive festivals and fertility. The beauty of nature is celebrated and with it the maternal strength.
The fire god Belenos holds the scepter and is at the zenith of its power. The great goddess is in her greatest strength. Everything in nature strives for maturation and full development.
Even today, traditionally large fire are inflamed or in some places so -called "fire wheels", wheels wrapped with straw are inflamed and rolled down the hills.
The fire of earlier times absolutely had to be made of oak, because the oak symbolized this time of powerful and warm sunny days. The rule of the so -called "oak king" started these days and ended shortly before the Christmas days.

The two solstice during the course of the year have always been seen as interfaces, as a transition period. And so it is not surprising that even on the days of the summer solstice people oracle and wanted to know which events would still occur during the year.
In the past, the summer solstice was celebrated for 12 days. It was an intoxicating, foolish, sensual but also supernatural time. Strong beers were brewed, to which certain herbs have been added. It is not surprising when some saw the elves dancing or hearing animals or watching dwarfs who had their home under a elderberry.
During this time, the mistletoe played a major role in healing or druids, but important medicinal herbs were harvested by women during the nights of the summer solstice and integrated into the medicinal herb bouquet.
If you want to celebrate this old festival of the summer solstice today, it is best to make a traditional solstice fire - small or large - entirely by space and pleasure. Of course, food and drink are part of it, just like laughter and dancing. If you want to do it very traditionally, burn oak and spruce wood in the fire and throw some herbs into it. Traditionally, these are mugwort, chamomile, thyme and St. John's wort.

Drums, chans and blessings for the coming time are also creative design options. Perhaps you may celebrate for yourself or with guests and, for example, lay out a "spiral of life" from stones in the garden and treat yourself to the time to reflect and think. So you can celebrate a wonderful sun gender alone or with friends!
Since the maternal power is also celebrated on the summer solstice, some thoughts of gratitude should apply to our mothers and grandmothers. Even if you didn't always do everything right - so you gave you the greatest gift that you could give: you gave you life ...
