In this edition of "When Plants Whisper", you will discover how this precious oil can naturally relieve stress, lift your mood, and even enrich your skin and hair care routine.
Ylang Ylang Oil
Ylang Ylang (pronounced ee-lang ee-lang) is a tropical tree with the botanical name Cananga odorata. It originates from Southeast Asia (especially Indonesia, the Philippines, and Madagascar) and belongs to the Annonaceae family.
The tree's blossoms are very fragrant and are used to produce Ylang Ylang essential oil through steam distillation. The scent is sweet, floral, woody, and is often used in perfumery, as well as in aromatherapy and wellness applications.
So how can I use Ylang Ylang oil?
- Room fragrance: Use a few drops in a diffuser; the oil has an uplifting and vitalizing effect on the senses.
- Mood-enhancing: The oil can have a harmonizing effect in cases of sadness or anxiety.
- Heart-strengthening: Rub 1 drop of the oil into your palms and inhale the scent.
- Skin care: Suitable for combination or oily skin when diluted, as it can regulate sebum production.
- Massage: Add 1-2 drops to 10 ml of carrier oil (e.g., jojoba oil) and use for massages.
- For the scalp: Mix 2-3 drops of Ylang Ylang oil with about 1-2 tablespoons of carrier oil (e.g., jojoba oil, coconut oil, or argan oil) and massage it into the scalp.
Did you already know Ylang Ylang? If you were like me, then all of this was new to you :) We wish you wonderful new experiences with the Ylang Ylang flower.
